This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and supportive executive team at Devon Partnership NHS Trust. We provide and commission a range of mental health and learning disability services for the people of Devon, the wider South West region and nationally. We are currently rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission with some of our wards rated ‘Outstanding’. We aspire to provide the very best care to those we serve and the very best working environment for those we employ. We have an income of over £250m, employ around 3,700 staff and 92% of people using our services would recommend our services to family and friends. But our ambitions do not stop there.
Our mission is to become a recognised centre of excellence and expertise in mental health and learning disability within the next few years, with the aim of delivering consistently high quality, recovery-focused care and treatment and to ensure our services are driven by the voices of the people who use them. This will only happen with and because of our excellent staff.
Our ambition is to attract and retain talented people in this most beautiful part of the country and create a great place to work with a shared sense of pride and ambition. Our staff are pivotal in everything we do - whatever their role, wherever they work – every single one of our colleagues, plays an outstanding role in delivering high quality care to those we serve. We need to support all our people to develop professionally and personally, ensuring that they are equipped to thrive in a changing world.
This is where you come in. As an Executive Director of the Trust Board, you will inspire confidence through your knowledge and expertise and ensure that our Board of Directors keep quality of care with compassion at the core of decision making. You will bring to life the ambitions referenced in the NHS People Plan and NHS People Promise by creating an environment where the best people can do their best work for all those who use our services, our partners and each other. You will share in and drive our passion and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion and to supporting our staff in maintaining and improving their physical and mental health.
Working across the Trust, this role will ensure that our HR and OD service is innovative, flexible and responsive to our colleague’s needs with service and delivery at the heart of what you do. Leading the strategic HR and OD function within the Trust and working with stakeholders across the system you will develop our capability to deliver not only on our current challenges, but how we future proof our workforce pipeline and capability to ensure the future sustainability of our services.
We are looking for an HR professional experienced in building relationships across organisational boundaries. We need someone ambitious for our staff and our patients, putting them at the heart of everything we do. Previous NHS experience is not a necessity, but candidates will need to understand what it means to work in a complex organisation such as our Trust, and with values that match our own. We would also welcome interest from those looking for their first substantive executive director position.
If you believe have what it takes and are driven to make a difference for our people and the communities we serve, we would love to hear from you.
